About CXRE Labs
CXRE (/kor/) is a creative and experimentation lab working at the intersection of art, design, technology, and culture. We build brand systems, digital experiences, physical objects, and experimental projects alongside independent creatives across disciplines. CXRE Residency is our first major public residency program, launching in Downtown Halifax in the summer of 2026.
About the Role
This role is not about documentation in the traditional sense. It is about making the culture and energy of CXRE Residency visible and alive to people who are not in the room.
Think raw, cinematic, human, and present. Short-form video that captures the feeling of a space, not just the outputs of a program. Candid moments over posed ones. The process, the experiments that failed, the thing that suddenly worked. Captions that sound like a person wrote them. Content that makes someone watching from their phone feel like they are missing something worth being part of.
Beyond documentation, you own CXRE Labs social media presence for the full six months. From the launch announcement to the final exhibition, the program's online voice is yours to build and maintain.
Documentation & Content Lead
Responsibilities
-
Own and manage CXRE's social media channels throughout the program
-
Build and maintain a content calendar aligned with program milestones from launch through to the final exhibition
-
Visit the studio regularly to capture process, prototypes, residents at work, and the real culture of the program
-
Create short-form video content — Reels and vertical video built around moments and stories, not highlight reels
-
Write captions that sound like a person and add something rather than just describing the image
-
Cover all public events, workshops, open studios, and evening activations
-
Conduct and deliver on-camera interviews with all eight residents at mid-residency and program close
-
Build and maintain the full documentation archive, organized and backed up throughout
-
Deliver photo and video materials for the impact report and partner reporting
-
Track monthly analytics and share a brief summary with Creative Director
Requirements
-
A visual storyteller first — you have an eye, a point of view, and the instinct to know when a moment is worth capturing
-
Fluent in short-form video — you know what makes something work on Instagram and you have a portfolio that proves it
-
Experience managing social media for a brand, program, or community — not just a personal account
-
Photography skills that go beyond documentation — you can make a studio, a prototype, or a person look compelling
-
Good with people — residents need to feel comfortable around you before they let you close enough to capture the real moments
-
Organized enough to maintain a clean archive and a consistent posting schedule across six months
-
Based in Halifax or able to be reliably on-site throughout the program
Engagement Details
-
Part-time contract, 16 hours per week
-
Regular on-site visits to the CXRE flagship
